He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 21
He didn’t leave right away.
Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed my sleeve.
I stepped back instinctively, and he let go at once.
“If what?” I asked.
His eyes were red.
“If I regret it now.”
I looked at him for a long time without speaking.
He finally forced the words out.
“Is it still possible for us?”
A breeze rustled the trees on the porch, making their shadows dance restlessly.
I suddenly thought of many years ago, when he first promised he would marry me when we grew up.
He was eleven; I was nine.
Neither of us understood what marriage or a claiming truly meant. We just thought that being together forever was the happiest possible ending.
If he had asked me this six months ago, I might have cried.
I might have even softened.
But now, all I felt was that it was far too late.
I asked, “What about Victoria?”
He gritted his teeth.
“I can apply to dissolve the relationship.”
“Her health is poor. She was left with an incurable injury because she saved me.”
I threw his own family’s logic back at him.
“How could you possibly deal her another blow like that?”
Sebastian’s face turned ashen.
At last, I smiled.
“Brother-in-law, you don’t get to start talking about responsibility only when it’s time to keep the person you want.”
