He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 23
She raised her hand to slap me.
But her wrist was caught mid-swing.
Before I could even react, Gavin was standing beside me.
He wore a dark blue combat jacket, looking as though he’d come straight from the Royal Guard training base. Dust still clung to his cuffs.
His grip was firm but controlled. He gave a light push, and my sister staggered back two steps.
Gavin moved to stand in front of me.
“Victoria, if you have something to say, then say it. Don’t put your hands on her.”
My sister’s eyes were wild with tears.
“This is between me and my sister.”
“She’s my fiancée and a future member of the Westmoor Pack who is already on the preliminary registry.”
Gavin’s voice was level and cold.
“That makes it my business.”
It was the first time anyone had ever stood in front of me so naturally, as if it were the only place they belonged.
My sister stared at him, and then she broke down completely.
“Why?”
Gavin frowned.
She sobbed, “Why does everyone choose her in the end?”
The question struck me like a physical blow.
But Gavin just looked confused.
“What?”
My sister wiped furiously at her tears.
“I was the one who jumped into the lake first. I was the one who learned to take care of everyone. Look how much I’ve suffered all these years because of my health. So why is it that in the end, she’s the one who gets everything?”
Gavin didn’t answer her.
He turned to look at me.
“Are you cold?”
I froze, then shook my head.
“No.”
He still took off his coat and draped it over my shoulders before turning back to my sister.
“What she has is her own life. What does that have to do with you?”
The color slowly drained from my sister’s face.
