The Prince Let Me Die Now He Begs For My Love Chapter 09

A light scent of mint and cedar lingered nearby the whole time.

My wolf, confirming from the scent that the person who had saved me meant no harm, finally stopped struggling.

I woke to voices outside the window.

Gavin sounded deeply aggrieved.

“Dominic, I swear I don’t know her.”

“I just saw she was about to collapse and went over to catch her.”

“How was I supposed to know she’d grab my arm and refuse to let go? I couldn’t exactly leave an unconscious woman lying on the ground.”

“I’m twenty-four. When have you ever seen me tangled up with some strange woman?”

I curled my lips in a relieved smile, turned over, and went back to sleep.

When I woke again, it was already dark outside.

After hearing that I had been punished at Royal Castle and then taken away by Gavin, my mother had immediately rushed to Mercer Manor to collect me.

At this moment, she was downstairs talking with Gavin’s mother.

I washed up quickly and was about to head to the sitting room when a tall figure blocked my way in the corridor.

Leaning against the wall, Gavin looked at me with casual indifference.

“Vivian Greene.”

“Go back and tell your mother to cancel our engagement.”

“I don’t like being tied down by work or marriage, and I have no intention of becoming the perfect husband anyone expects. Don’t let a proper girl like you get dragged down by me.”

I fell silent.

Gavin was the younger son of the Mercer family and had grown up wild and free.

And I looked rigidly well-behaved, like the sort of woman who might, at any moment, make him keep to a schedule.

It was perfectly normal that he didn’t like me.

I lowered my eyes, and my voice softened.

“You’ve already said so much. What else can I do?”

“The engagement wasn’t my decision alone. If you insist on canceling it, then of course I have to accept that.”

Gavin looked at my crestfallen face and frowned slightly.

I lifted a hand and wiped at the corner of my eye.

“Come closer. I have one last thing to tell you.”

He hesitated, then bent down.

The next second, I caught the back of his neck and rose onto my toes to kiss him.
