“Yes.”
It had come with me from Atlanta to Portland and remained locked in the bottom drawer of my desk.
It held more than just forty-seven seconds.
It held the full “Bonus Mom Tests” group chat, the apology video I had been forced to record, and the planning records for the anniversary dinner and the fake school emergency.
It also held the unedited footage from the lake house, the cloud deletion records, the dock surveillance video, and the emergency room report from my miscarriage.
Every piece of evidence was something Cassidy believed she could erase or edit into a different meaning.
After work, I went back to my apartment and plugged the USB drive into my computer.
When the folder opened, my palms were slick with sweat.
In the first video, the past version of me stood on the baseball field, her face growing paler by the second.
Laughter came from all sides.
I paused it on instinct.
My therapist once told me that healing doesn’t mean forcing yourself to keep staring at the wound.
I didn’t need to organize this evidence with my own hands.
And I didn’t need to prove, all over again, just how much that day had hurt.
I called my lawyer back.
“I’m handing all the files over to you.”

Then I sealed the USB drive in an evidence envelope and scheduled a courier for the next morning.
This time, I didn’t watch her livestream.
I simply handed over the evidence she herself had created to the people who were meant to see it.
At one in the morning, Cassidy posted another update.

A few minutes later, my lawyer sent me the court’s filing receipt.
