His 47 Seconds Of Silence Cost Him Everything Chapter 21
The comments flew by.
Someone asked why she was violating the court order by showing Jude’s belongings.
She picked up the life jacket.
“I’m his mother. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to share things that belong to my own child?”
Then she displayed a transfer record showing that I had rejected Linda and Mark’s compensation, but she had deliberately cropped the image to hide the fact that the funds had been returned in full.
“They sold their house to give her money. She took everything and still wouldn’t let us go.”
My lawyer called me. “Do you still have the refund paperwork?”
“It’s in the divorce file.”
“And Evan’s pinned public apology?”
“I have the web archive and the version submitted to the court.”
“Good.”
These weren’t pieces of evidence created after the fact to patch over the truth.
One was a refund form I had personally signed.
The other was Evan’s own public confession, posted long before this.
At 9:03 p.m., my lawyer served the social media platform with the court injunction, the refund records, and a preservation notice for the livestream.
At 9:12 p.m., the livestream abruptly cut out.
Cassidy immediately switched to a backup account.
“Mara is trying to silence me!” she screamed into the camera. “She’s panicking!”
Before the words had even left her mouth, the second stream went black, too.
This time, it wasn’t because I had done anything.
It was because the yellow life jacket in her hands and the repeated footage of Jude from the start of the stream were, on their own, enough to prove she was violating the injunction.
That same night, the platform froze all of her connected accounts.
My lawyer informed me the court had moved the hearing up to the following week.
“Cassidy is requesting that you appear.”
“What for?”
“She says you need to admit, in person, that the miscarriage was just an accident.”
I was silent for a few seconds.
“Then let her ask.”
There were things I didn’t need to say to the internet.
But I was more than willing to say them in a place with a record, with evidence, and with consequences.
