He Moved His Lover In I Moved My Money Out Chapter 07

I didn’t have time to wait for Graham to recover.

The arts center review, my lawyer’s supplemental filings, the auditors pulling records—everything came at once. Then, at three in the afternoon, the hospital called.

“Your mentor has had a heart attack. She’s in the ICU.”

My phone nearly slipped from my hand.

She was a titan in the architecture world, the woman who had funded my college education and treated me like a granddaughter. After she retired, I had been covering her private care costs.

I rushed to the hospital and waited outside the emergency room for two hours, my hands and feet cold the entire time.

Then the elevator doors opened.

Graham came striding over with a Fortnum & Mason gift hamper in hand. His suit was rumpled, and his eyes were bloodshot.

“Nora, I brought the best cardiovascular specialists from Mass General. They’re consulting right now.”

He opened his arms, just as he always did in a crisis, as if he meant to pull me into his embrace.

I got to my feet and blocked his path.

“Don’t touch me.”

Graham’s hands froze in midair, his eyes slowly reddening.
