He Moved His Lover In I Moved My Money Out Chapter 27
Every other question went to my lawyer.
Claire’s lawsuit lasted less than a month.
After Graham’s lawyer submitted the transcript of the property hearing, she withdrew her claim to the house and pursued only her claim against Graham over his personal promises.
She stopped me outside the courthouse once.
“Are you satisfied now?”
I didn’t slow my pace.
She hurried after me, her voice sharp.
“You have a career, money, and people backing you. I had a child with me. I just wanted a stable place to live. Why did you have to take the house away?”
“The house was never something you had the right to ask me for.”
“But Graham promised it to me!”
“Then ask him why he promised you something that didn’t belong to him.”
Claire froze where she stood.
At last, she had run out of people to blame.
She transferred Owen back to an ordinary school. As for the parts of the case involving the child, I did not ask my lawyer to pursue them further.
The choices made by adults should not be paid for by him.
As for Graham, he pled guilty before the tax case went to trial.
Through my lawyer, his attorney passed along one final request.
“He hopes you’ll attend the sentencing. Even if it’s only for five minutes.”
“Denied.”
“He says there may never be another chance for him to see you.”
I signed the construction approval for the community library.
“That is exactly what the agreement requires.”
On the day of the sentencing, I was in Portland for the project’s groundbreaking.
At that same time, a judge sentenced Graham to prison and ordered that, after his release, he would remain subject to supervision and repayment obligations.
When my lawyer sent over the result, I was handing the first ceremonial shovel of dirt to my mentor.
I didn’t open the attached courtroom photo.
I only replied with two words.
“Received.”
