My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 05

My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 05

By the time the plane landed in London, it was raining.

I dragged my suitcase off the jet bridge, my phone vibrating relentlessly in my pocket.

Message after message from Matteo popped up on the screen.

*Bianca, stop this and answer the phone.*

*Ashley and I were just putting on an act for the family. She waited for me for so many years—I couldn’t let her lose face at the wedding.*

*I didn’t abandon you. I swear.*

*Have you forgotten our past? You were with me through the hardest time of my life. I said I would marry you. How could I ever really not want you?*

*I can’t live without you.*

I looked at the words and almost laughed.

He said he couldn’t live without me.

But he had married me off to another man.

He said he hadn’t abandoned me.

But in front of everyone, he’d said I was disgusting, shoved me into broken glass, and thrown scalding coffee in my face.

So in his world, as long as he called his cruelty a joke, it didn’t count.

Soon enough, messages from Ashley started coming in.

*Bianca, are you happy now?*

*You knew he was soft-hearted. You knew he couldn’t let you go, so you deliberately left with Alessio. Do you have to throw everyone’s life into chaos to be satisfied?*

I didn’t reply.

Then a voice message from my father came through, his anger tightly controlled.

“Bianca, come back immediately. You know exactly what kind of family the Morettis are. Matteo is the heir they value most.”

“If you offend him, you won’t just be making trouble for yourself. You’ll drag the entire Cross family down with you.”

My mother’s message was shorter.

*You’ve been a burden to me since the day you were born.*

My brother sent a long text.

He said my temper was too stubborn, that I shouldn’t ruin my life out of spite. He said Alessio had no standing in the Moretti family, and that being sent to Europe was no different than being cast out.

At the end, he wrote:

*Bianca, stop making a scene and come home. If you just bow your head and admit you were wrong, Matteo won’t really abandon you.*
