My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 09
And then I saw an entire yard full of kittens.
Under the trellis, beside the swing, by the fountain, across the lawn—there were cats everywhere.
White ones, calicos, silver-grays.
They lay on cushioned mats under warming lamps, unafraid of people, and slowly gathered around me.
Their tails brushed against the hem of my skirt.
I nearly cried.
Alessio asked in a low voice, “You don’t like them?”
I shook my head, crouched down, and reached out to stroke the little orange kitten’s head.
It was warm and soft, and a tiny purr rumbled in its throat.
How could I not like them?
I had loved cats since I was little.
But Ashley was allergic to cat fur, so everyone in my family said I wasn’t allowed near them.
My mother would say, “Don’t make trouble for the family.”
My brother would say, “Just look at cats online. It’s not like you have to own one.”
Later, Matteo and I adopted a little gray kitten.
That cat was so sweet. It always liked to sleep curled up in my lap.
I named it Dusty.
But after Ashley came back into our lives, Matteo gave Dusty away.
He said, “Bianca, Ashley’s health is poor. Stop being so stubborn.”
I searched for days but never found him.
After that, I never tried to have another cat.
