My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 11

I sat there holding the phone for a long time without moving.

Alessio asked, “Do you want to go?”

I shook my head.

“I don’t want to see him.”

“Not as Bianca,” he said, setting down a file. “As the person in charge of the Ryson project.”

I stared at him.

“I can’t.”

The words came out instinctively.

“I don’t understand business. I don’t know how to negotiate. I don’t know anything about these projects.”

I wasn’t being modest.

In the Cross family, company business was never my concern.

My father said my personality was too confrontational, that I wasn’t suited to dealing with clients.

My mother said I wasn’t as steady as my brother or as sharp as Ashley.

Sometimes my brother would defend me.

But in the end, he would just pat my head and say, “Bianca, you don’t need to learn these things. Your sister and I can handle the company.”

They had never let me touch anything important.

Then, they accused me of not knowing how to do anything.

Alessio looked at me, and there wasn’t a trace of disdain in his eyes.

“It’s okay if you don’t know now.”

“I’ll assign you an assistant, and someone will prepare the materials for you.”

“Just sit in the meeting. Listen. When you’ve heard enough, make a judgment. Then state your decision.”

I still shook my head.

“What if I make the wrong decision?”

His answer was immediate.

“Then it’s wrong. That’s okay.”

No one had ever said those words to me before.

In the Cross family, crying was wrong. Making a fuss was wrong. Loving cats was wrong. Wanting things for myself was wrong.

Alessio pushed a file across the table toward me.

“Bianca, no one is born knowing how to do this.”

“It’s not that you can’t do it. It’s that no one ever gave you the chance to try.”

I looked at the file, and something in my chest gave a quiet jolt.

After a moment, I reached out and took it.

“Then I’ll try.”
