His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 11

“You spent four years and still couldn’t get through our front door. Now you’ve found another man to put on a show with? You’re only making yourself look worse.”

My mother rose from her seat again, her hand catching on the tablecloth.

I pressed her shoulder lightly and walked to the edge of the stage myself.

“Mrs. Westbrook, today’s performance was written by your son, and he cast his friends in the leading roles.”

“You know exactly how your family has treated me these past four years. I don’t owe the Westbrooks a thing.”

Her face hardened.

“How many times did you beg Mason for a ring? Have you even counted? If you hadn’t spent all your time chasing him—”

“A lot of people chase someone,” I cut in, looking her straight in the eye.

“How many charity galas did Mason chase Caroline Whitfield to, just so he could get into the Whitfield family’s investor circle? It was only after she rejected him that you reluctantly allowed him to keep dating me.”

Mrs. Westbrook’s face went white. Her lips moved, but no sound came out.

“What are you talking about?”

“Two years ago, you tried to set up Caroline and Mason. Did you think I didn’t know?”

“I didn’t say anything then because I didn’t want to embarrass Mason. But the Westbrook family never showed me an ounce of respect.”
