When Kieran heard the news, his brow furrowed.
“I don’t have time for your jokes. It’s not April Fools’ Day.”
“Sir, I would never joke about something like this. Mrs. Vitale… she’s really gone.”
“She was alive when I left. What is Blythe trying to pull this time?”
“Is she conspiring with you to force me to go see her?”
“Carla just got out of surgery. She needs me here. Why does Blythe have to cause trouble now of all times?”
“If you’re going to keep saying she’s dead, then bring me proof!”
“Sir…”
The assistant tried to explain, but Kieran had already hung up.
He put his phone away and walked into the ward.
“Carla, how do you feel? Any better?”
“This is all my fault. You just got out of surgery, and I was too impatient. I ended up making you suffer again.”
Carla gently shook her head.
“I don’t blame you.”
“By the way, is Blythe still in there?”
“She’s been punished enough. Don’t make her suffer too much on my account.”
The moment Kieran heard my name, his anger flared.
“Don’t mention her. If she really did die, it would save us a lot of trouble.”
“The shock levels were set low, but my assistant just called saying she’s dead.”
“She’ll do anything to get my attention.”
