My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 33
On Old Mr. Hawthorne’s ninety-third birthday, he was in excellent spirits.
He sat our daughter on his lap, trying to coax her into calling him “Great-Grandpa.”
But she just kept staring at the emerald bracelet on my wrist, reaching for it.
I was afraid she’d drop it, but the old man just laughed.
“It belonged to her grandmother. Of course she’s drawn to it.”
I paused.
She was too young to understand what a grandmother was.
I took off the bracelet and gently placed it in her tiny hand.
“This was Mommy’s mommy’s gift to Mommy.”
“When you’re a little older, Mommy will give it to you.”
Worried she might drop it, Conrad took the braided cord bracelet from his pocket, carefully threaded the emerald one through it, and tied it securely back on my wrist.
I watched him, surprised.
“When did you learn to tie that knot?”
Conrad held up his own wrist, showing me the old, faded bracelet he still wore.
“I’ve been practicing.”
“I couldn’t let you be the only one making things for me.”
