He Married Another So I Accepted My Arranged Husband Chapter 17

I took the photograph and froze.

It was a picture of me and Desmond as children, taken in a private clinic.

I was in the middle of losing my baby teeth and was grinning with a gap where one of my front teeth should have been.

“You were the light-eyed boy in the bed next to mine?”

When I was little, I had been hospitalized for a few days with pneumonia.

Desmond had been in the next bed, recovering from a respiratory infection.

We were close in age and had quickly become friends.

His eyes were so light that I called him Light Eyes. I wore my hair in two braids, so he called me Braid Girl.

This photo had been taken in the hospital room on the day he was discharged.

Over the years, I had occasionally thought of that boy.

I’d always assumed it was just a brief, passing encounter, a story with no next chapter.

I never imagined that after everything, I would meet him again.

And marry him.

Desmond took my hand.

“Looks like we found our way back to each other after all.”

That night, he carried me into the bathroom.

We didn’t go to sleep until very late.

So when I woke up the next morning, the housekeeper had already prepared breakfast.

“Madam, you’re awake,” she said kindly.

“Mr. Bellandi has already left for a meeting. He told us not to wake you.”

“I’ll go heat up your breakfast.”

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I murmured, “He gets up so early.”
