The Underboss Voted No So I Chose A New Life Chapter 28
In the second week of the shoot, Sarah came to the hotel.
She couldn’t get upstairs, so she waited in the lobby for two hours.
When I came back from location work, she stood up immediately.
“Mireille, we need to talk.”
“I’m working.”
“Five minutes.”
She pulled a printed page from her bag.
It was the email I had sent the Bellini family adviser.
In it, I had clearly stated that I would not attend the marriage acknowledgment dinner and had never been entered into their protection record.
“The adviser showed me this.”
“So?”
“You were already preparing to leave everyone behind then. It wasn’t some last-minute heartbreak. You had it all planned.”
In the lobby, a few people slowed to look.
Sarah raised the page higher, as if she had finally caught me in a lie.
“You let us think the wedding was still happening while you accepted the Austin position. Hadrian was wrong, but you never gave anyone a chance, either.”
I took the page from her.
