My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 32

He was sitting on a sofa, two laptops open in front of him, a half-empty cup of black coffee on the table.

*I’m staying in the room next to yours tonight. Someone has been asking for your room number. We’ll talk tomorrow. Get some sleep.*

Chiara typed her reply slowly.

*Thank you, Mr. Vale.*

Only after she sent it did she realize how formal it sounded.

Too late to take it back.

Sterling’s response was quick.

*Call me Sterling. And you don’t owe Ironwood anything.*

Chiara looked at the words, and the corner of her mouth lifted in a faint, involuntary smile.

Then she turned off the light.

In the dark, with her eyes closed, all she could hear was Griffin’s voice in her head.

*Sooner or later, I’ll tell you why I married her.*

The next morning, a text message startled her awake.

Francesca again.

*Chiara, let’s get coffee this afternoon. Just the two of us. There are some things I want to explain.*

Chiara stared at the message.

Francesca rarely sought her out without an audience.

If she wanted to meet alone, there was a reason.

Chiara replied with three words.

*Time and place.*

Francesca answered almost instantly.

*Two o’clock. The café across from your hotel. I’ve already booked a table.*

At two that afternoon, Chiara walked into the café to find Francesca already seated by the window.

She wore a pale blue knit sweater, a cup of hot cocoa in front of her. The faint, herbal scent of the Pack estate clung to her.

When she saw Chiara, she stood at once.

“Chiara, you came. Please, sit. I ordered you a latte. You used to like them.”

She remembered everything.

The coffee Chiara liked.

The dishes Chiara hated.

The boy Chiara had loved when she was sixteen.

She remembered it all, and at just the right moment, she would turn each of those memories into a weapon.

Chiara sat down across from her but didn’t touch the coffee.

“You said you had something to say,” she said. “So say it.”
