My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 51

At the bottom of the page, another line had been added later.

It was Griffin’s handwriting, the pen pressed so hard it had nearly torn the paper.

*You’re right. I’m not worthy of her. I’ll protect her and Nightfall in my own way, even if she never knows.*

The marriage alliance had been a lock. It had allowed Griffin to freeze the assets under Francesca’s name, preventing Anthony from gaining control of Nightfall’s voting power through his biological daughter. At the same time, it sealed off Chiara’s inheritance so the bribed elders couldn’t touch it.

There had been no formal vows, no marking, no true mate bond.

It had only ever been a cage.

Chiara crumpled the page in her hand.

So her father had never approved.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t seen what was happening.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t tried to stop it.

He had looked Griffin in the eye and said, plain and simple—*you are not fit to be my daughter’s husband.*

And Griffin had still signed the alliance with Francesca.

Still taken on the most dangerous position in the entire Pack.

Still locked the dissolution agreement away for three years.

Not because he owed the Morettis a debt.

But because he had promised a man who disapproved of him that he would protect Chiara in his own way—and preserve the freedom of the Pack she was meant to inherit.

“He’s never once lived for himself,” Chiara said quietly.

Sterling said nothing.

He only set a box of tissues on the desk and walked to the window, giving her space.

Chiara folded the dissolution agreement and slipped it into her pocket, along with her father’s letter.

When she looked up, she said, “Sterling, can you keep investigating Anthony Russo for me?”

“I already am,” he said.

He turned, his tone still even, but his expression was grim.

“After your father died, Anthony withdrew a large sum of money and a shipment of wolfsbane. He’s been out of the country ever since.”

“But last week, he came back.”

“When?”

“The day you returned to New York.”
