My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 71
A week later, Sterling arrived at Moretti Holdings carrying a cross-territory trade agreement.
It was the very one Chiara had found at Charles de Gaulle three years ago.
Black cover, Ironwood’s tree insignia in the corner.
“Your father once offered me a subsidiary and three overseas transit routes in exchange for my protection over you,” Sterling said.
“That deal was never completed.”
“But you already did what he asked,” Chiara said. “You helped me find his letter. You protected me in the chapel and from Anthony’s men.”
“That was my choice.”
Sterling pushed the agreement toward her.
“It is not a debt you owe.”
Chiara opened the file.
It was the standard trade agreement Ironwood had originally proposed, its terms having nothing to do with her inheritance.
The way out her father had sought for her had never become a contract that traded her for profit.
“Then why are you here today?”
“To do business.”
Sterling leaned back in his chair, his tone as level as ever.
“Nightfall is reopening its overseas lines. Ironwood needs warehousing in New York. We cooperate on market terms. Neither of us owes the other a favor.”
Chiara read through the terms but did not sign immediately.
She had the company’s legal team review the contract, page by page.
Sterling waited for the full two hours without a word of complaint.
Only after the review was complete did Chiara sign the final page.
“There’s one more thing,” she said. “That courtship at the chapel—when do you plan on clarifying it?”
Sterling raised an eyebrow.
“The Registry received an explanation yesterday. I never submitted any formal courtship documents.”
“So you’re not my ex-fiancé.”
“I am not.”
“Good.”
Sterling’s gaze dropped to the steel ring on her finger, and a rare smile touched his lips.
“Does Griffin know how eager you are to clear my name from your record?”
“My record is my business. Whether he knows or not is irrelevant.”
Sterling gathered the documents and stood.
“You’re starting to sound like an Alpha.”
Chiara rose as well.
“I always was.”
