The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 22
By the time the three Families found Sloane, she was covered in injuries, the wedding dress on her body nearly shredded.
They found Tucker, too.
Both of his hands had been broken.
Only then did I learn that the video link he had sent me was on a delay.
The injuries Sloane suffered had been inflicted on Tucker’s orders.
Tucker’s own hands had also been broken on his command.
When he saw me, his voice was so hoarse it was nearly gone.
“Isolde, you were right. None of this is fun at all.”
Later, they were both escorted back to the United States.
This matter involved the Moretti, Ferraro, and Bellandi Families. Each Family head sent an adviser, forming a three-party committee.
Through his adviser, Tucker transferred to me every asset still in his name.
“Don’t refuse. You’re overseas. You’ll need the money.”
“It’s still less than what I used to spend on Sloane.”
The Moretti Family had no intention of making this disappear for him.
They left him with only one adviser, just enough to ensure he had a voice in the internal inquiry. That was the last of their responsibility they were willing to fulfill.
Tucker didn’t have all that much to his name.
But to someone like me, it was a considerable sum.
I wanted no connection to him, so I tried to return it just to buy my peace.
But the Moretti Family sent it back to me.
“Keep it. Consider it compensation.”
“You did leave my son, but the one condition you asked of us—we still failed to grant it.”
What I had asked for in the first place had been very simple.
I just never wanted Tucker to find me again.
