The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 49

The proposal failed.

Sierra voted against it.

The Ferraro Family had originally intended to back the Moretti Family, but the moment it heard compensation might be reopened, it switched to abstaining on the spot.

That left the Moretti Family with only its own vote.

When the result was announced, Tucker’s father walked straight out of the meeting room.

His adviser didn’t even have time to gather the documents from the table.

Tucker’s mother did not chase after him.

She only looked at me.

“You won.”

“Not me,” I said.

“It’s just that you had no record showing Safe Return harmed anyone.”

The vote ending didn’t mean the matter was over.

The three temporary housing sites that had suspended cooperation did not return immediately.

After running the numbers, Chloe told me the U.S. service point could only keep operating as normal for two more months.

“Should we shut it down first?”

The question was painful for her to ask.

I stared at the accounts for a long time, too.

Safe Return wasn’t a competition.

I couldn’t let people who genuinely needed help bear the cost just because I refused to bow my head.

“Pause expansion,” I said.
