He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 10

Daniel didn’t leave.

I picked up my phone, opened our shared finance app, and turned the screen toward him.

“Since we’re talking about family, let’s go over the numbers.”

Utilities, internet, grocery deliveries—the expenses lined up one after another on the screen. Over the past month, those three categories had risen by forty percent compared to before Tessa moved in, and every charge had come out of our joint account.

Daniel frowned. “What exactly are you showing me this for?”

“My paycheck is now going into my personal account, and all automatic payments have been canceled. Starting next month, I will cover only my share of the mortgage. Utilities, internet, food—whoever uses them pays for them.”

His face darkened instantly.

“Claire, you’re weaponizing money.”

“I’m not weaponizing money.” I lowered the phone. “I’m just no longer paying for your decisions.”

“Tessa just got a job. She’s really strapped for cash right now!”

“Then you can support her. She’s your daughter. That’s a commitment you made.”

Daniel raised his voice. “How am I supposed to cover the mortgage, the bills, and support them, too, on my salary alone?”
