He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 31
“In the downstairs guest room, of course.” She answered as if it were obvious. “Tessa and Noah are upstairs, and you two are already in the ADU, aren’t you?”
Daniel’s voice went tight. “What about Claire?”
She gave me an odd look.
“She works a lot. It’s more convenient for her to stay in the city during the week and come back on weekends. The ADU is perfectly fine for a married couple.”
I laughed.
So they had all planned it out for me.
My house, my money, my life—and all I was fit for was four hundred square feet on weekends.
Daniel finally snapped. “Enough! Mom, go back to your old house. Tessa, you move out, too!”
He came after me and grabbed my arm.
“Claire, I’ll make them leave. I’ll restore the lock, give you back the master bedroom—we can start over.”
I pulled my arm free.
“Daniel, are you making them leave because you understand what you did to me, or because I’m actually going to sue for divorce and force the sale of the house?”
He opened his mouth, but no answer came.
“Before, the consequences all fell on me, so you thought I could just endure them. Now the legal consequences might fall on you, and only now are you willing to change.”
I opened the car door.
“This isn’t remorse.”
“It’s fear.”
I heard his hurried footsteps behind me, but I didn’t turn around.
“Have your lawyer contact mine.”
