He Signed My Freedom Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 30
I thought that was the end of the file.
A few weeks later, however, Highridge sent another batch of supplemental materials. Vivian had been expelled from the pack manor for abusing the children. Because my name appeared at the start of the relevant events, the Registry was required to notify me.
I didn’t open it right away.
Chloe was on the bookstore rug, doing a puzzle, while Elias fixed a loose wall lamp. The room was peaceful. No one here expected me to shoulder a mother’s role again.
In the end, I read it anyway.
The records showed that after Lucian began leaving the manor more and more often, Vivian shifted her attention to banquets, her appearance, and the Moon Festival.
Without my supervision, Noah and Iris began skipping pack academy training—and Vivian indulged them. Their tutor contacted the manor several times, asking their guardian to intervene.
Vivian told the tutor not to trouble Lucian with it.
In a recording submitted by a staff member, she said to a friend:
“Why would I bother teaching them properly? Once Lucian and I complete our claim, I’ll have pups of my own. The less heir potential Noah has, the better it is for my child.”
When I read those words, Ember sent a cold warning through me.
Vivian hadn’t won the children over with candy, toys, and endless indulgence because she loved them.
She had only needed them to reject me.
Once I was gone, there was no reason to keep pretending.
That night, Noah threw a toy at her feet and ordered her to play with him.
