My Family Stole My Run I Returned A Leader Chapter 04

At eight that evening, the Lombardi family’s front door opened.

Tony dragged in two large suitcases.

“Finally home. I’m exhausted.”

He dropped the suitcases in the entryway, kicked off his shoes, and walked into the living room.

My parents came in behind him, helping Bella.

Stefan was last, carrying several shopping bags.

“Paloma!”

Tony shouted into the house.

“Where are you?”

“Come get some water. Bella’s thirsty.”

The house was silent. No one answered.

My mother tried to call me through the Cedar Ridge pack link.

Nothing.

“Where has that girl run off to?”

“Wasn’t she supposed to go to Gray Harbor and rent an apartment?”

“Why hasn’t she answered a single message? I can’t even reach her through the link.”

Dad pushed the luggage aside.

“Gray Harbor is too far. It’s well outside Cedar Ridge’s range.”

Bella sat down on the sofa, looking pale.

“Mom, is Paloma still mad at me?”

“Because I lost her bracelet…”

“If she cares that much, I’ll buy her a new one tomorrow.”

Dad patted her shoulder.

“Don’t worry about her.”

“She’s just being stubborn.”

“In a few days, when she runs out of money, she’ll call home herself.”

Stefan set the shopping bags on the coffee table.

Inside one was a pink jewelry box.

A pearl necklace he had bought for me at Tide Coast.

He probably thought that if he gave it to me, I would forgive him, just like I always had before.

“I’m going to check her room.”

Stefan headed for the little storage room.

The moment he pushed the door open, he froze.

The room was too clean.

Even my scent had almost faded completely.
