After Six Years The Alpha Begs For My Return Chapter 06

Even Gideon’s Alpha pressure wavered the moment he heard the name.

Reese.

The Beaumont family ruled the Tidewatch pack, their territory stretching across Gray Harbor’s eastern shore, the old docks, and the riverways leading out to sea. The Calloways were merely one of the old bloodlines with a seat on the White Ash River council. Half a city lay between their territories, and for decades, the two packs had maintained a cool, distant peace.

Half the docks in Gray Harbor flew Tidewatch’s deep-blue flag. Cargo crossing the river at night answered to them. Cross-border packs needed permission from their territorial office to pass through the harbor. And for years, Reese himself had overseen the European trade routes and the Paris branch office.

He never forgot a promise, and he never forgave a betrayal.

The Calloways held a respectable position in White Ash River, but they were nothing compared to the full might of the Tidewatch pack.

More importantly, Reese Beaumont was not a man the elders could control.

I met him during my third year in Paris.

That winter had nearly broken me. I was waiting tables at a small restaurant in the Thirteenth Arrondissement. The skin on my hands had split from the cold, but I couldn’t afford to take time off. After leaving my pack, my natural healing ability had weakened. Every wound closed with painful slowness.

He pushed open the restaurant door one night, his black coat dusted with snow. He ordered the cheapest stew on the menu and sat in a corner, watching me as he ate.

When he finished, he walked to the kitchen door and held out a business card.
