237 Ks Zero Fs Chapter 10
She stepped back on instinct. Her heel ground against broken glass with a sickening crunch.
“I… how should I know? Just calm down—”
Conor kicked the coffee table over. The tempered glass exploded like firecrackers. Hailey shrieked, jumped back, twisted her ankle, and fell to the floor.
“You wear her nightgown. You use the coasters she made. You dye your hair the same fucking shade—”
Conor grabbed her by the back of the neck and hauled her up off the floor like a rag doll.
His nails dug into her skin. Hailey whimpered in pain. “Did you think I didn’t see it? Did you really think I didn’t see it?”
“I just… I just wanted to be like her—”
“You? Be her?”
He dragged her down the hall and threw her onto the tiles in front of the elevator bank.
He pried the spare key out of her clenched palm and snapped it in half with his knee right in front of her face. The sound of metal fracturing echoed down the empty corridor.
“Get out of my sight.” He crouched down. His voice dropped suddenly, quiet as an undercurrent beneath ice. “If I ever see you again, I will make sure you never work in this industry again. I swear to God.”
The door slammed shut.
Hailey lay sprawled on the cold tiles, shaking uncontrollably.
But Conor wasn’t done.
