From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 20

“All of it. The original chat records, the video Sloane sent you, the emails from the fake address, the IP information, your spreadsheet, and the scan of the cashier’s check—we organized everything chronologically.”

Not a single one of those things had been dug up afterward.

Every piece of it had once been right in front of them.

They had just chosen not to believe it then.

My lawyer asked, “Do you want me to send a legal notice?”

I looked across the street.

Grant had gotten out of his car, but he was only standing there.

Two years ago, he had chased me to my office building.

Two years later, he was standing outside my new home.

As if waiting long enough could turn harm into devotion all by itself.

“Send it,” I said.

“But deleting the post isn’t enough.”

“Require her to post the full original video, the full group chat records, and the record of the fake email account. Wherever she lied, she corrects it on that same platform.”

My lawyer paused.

“What about Grant?”

“Send him one, too.”

“He allowed the betting pool, the secretly recorded video was taken at his engagement party, and the full records have been in his assistant’s hands the whole time.”

“He doesn’t get to hide behind ‘Sloane influenced me’ anymore.”

I hung up and replied to Lily.

[Give the evidence to my lawyer. Don’t contact Sloane on your own.]

She replied almost immediately.

[Would you be willing to see me?]

Holding my car keys, my fingertips hovered over the screen for a long moment.

[Not if it’s just for this.]

[I’ll handle it.]

The top of the chat kept showing that she was typing.

After a long while, she sent only one sentence.

[But I still owe you an apology.]
