From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 21

The day after the legal notice was delivered, Sloane did not delete the post.

Instead, she started a livestream.

On camera, she wore a plain blouse. There was no jewelry, no champagne on the table the way there used to be.

“Two years ago, I lost my marriage and all my friends over one joke.”

“And now Mara is using lawyers to threaten me again.”

“If she really has nothing to hide, why won’t she make the prenup public?”

The comments began siding with her.

[It was just a prenup. Why react so strongly?]

[She enjoyed four years of benefits and still wanted half the property?]

[A legal notice isn’t the same as the truth.]

I was sitting in a conference room. I watched for less than a minute before exiting the livestream.

Our head of public relations looked concerned.

“Mara, the board is asking whether we should postpone the launch event for your new project.”

Two years ago, if my work had been affected because of Grant and Lily, I would have apologized first.

I would have explained that my personal life would never become a burden to the company.

And then I would have swallowed every cost alone.
