From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 25
Sloane called Grant almost immediately.
He didn’t answer.
Then she sent dozens of messages.
[The betting pool was a group activity!]
[You were the one who told your assistant to prepare that check!]
[Without your approval, could I have projected the chat onto the TV?]
[Now you’re playing the repentant good guy and dumping all the blame on me?]
Those messages were meant to threaten Grant.
But the moment she sent them, she had proved once again, in her own words, that the betting pool had never been a joke.
Grant forwarded the messages to both lawyers and did not reply.
The others who had participated in the betting began to panic, too.
Some deleted old accounts. Some contacted my lawyer privately, asking that their names not appear in the public documents.
My lawyer gave them all the same answer.
“Ms. Ellis will not remove any names that appeared in the original group chat.”
Only then did they understand what it had meant, two years ago, to drag me into that chat and keep pulling me back in whenever I tried to leave.
It had never been some sealed room that existed only for their entertainment.
The person being humiliated had been present the entire time.
