From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 24

But he had never asked Lily if she wanted to be used that way.

Grant picked up a pen and signed his name at the end of the confirmation statement.

His lawyer reminded him, “Once this is released, you will not only be admitting that you allowed the betting pool, but also that you interfered with Ms. Ellis’s career choices multiple times by using your daughter as the reason.”

“I know.”

“It will damage your reputation.”

Grant looked at the copy of the cashier’s check.

“Two years ago, the thing I cared about most was what other people thought.”

“That’s why I let her stand in front of every camera by herself.”

The pen touched the paper.

Grant Whitmore.

Like my signature on the last page of the lease two years earlier—clear, complete.

That afternoon, through his lawyer, Grant released the confirmation statement publicly.

He did not mention Sloane’s jealousy.

He did not say again that he had been misled.

He admitted that the prenuptial betting pool took place at his engagement party.

He admitted that he had seen every humiliating message in the chat.

He admitted that he had used his relationship with me, and Lily, twice to force me to give up promotions.

At the end, he wrote:

[Sloane created the lie, but I was the one who chose to believe it and put Mara on the betting table.]

[Her refusal of the property, the cashier’s check, and the apology is not a game of hard to get.]

[She simply does not want me anymore.]

Less than half an hour after the statement was posted, Sloane’s livestream cut out without warning.

Because the man she had kept calling her scapegoat had just stripped away her final cover with his own hands.
