My Mother’s Perfect AI Lied And Left Me For Dead Chapter 11
“I would never wire it wrong. I couldn’t make that kind of mistake.”
The female detective assigned to the case sat down across from her.
“But you did. And for ten years, you never once independently verified it.”
“A child does not go from birth to age ten without ever running a fever, feeling pain, or showing anything but the exact same readings every single day. You saw hospital records. You received calls from her school. And you still chose to believe a set of numbers that never changed.”
Mom lifted her head, her lips pale.
The detective placed the autopsy report beside the technical one.
“The final autopsy found that Morgan had long-term anemia and gastrointestinal issues. Her immune system was weaker than that of other children her age. She also had injuries from multiple different periods.”
“More importantly, her heart muscle showed long-term damage from elevated stress hormones. The ongoing fear, pain, and psychological pressure caused stress cardiomyopathy.”
“The free-fall attraction triggered a fatal arrhythmia. She was already dead on the platform.”
As Mom stared at one diagnosis after another, images of my childhood flashed through her mind.
Again and again, I had told her I didn’t feel well. After Ava’s alarm, Mom would lock me up, deny me medicine, and refuse to take me to a doctor.
My stomach hurt when I ate, and I couldn’t finish my food. She called me a picky eater and forced me to clear my plate.
After exercise, my chest would hurt so badly I could only crouch by the roadside. She would grab my arm, accuse me of stalling, and force me to keep walking.
