Westley You Are Late Chapter 23

Westley You Are Late Chapter 23

By the time I got down to the reception lounge, Sofia was sitting on a sofa, holding the baby.

Leo stood by the window, his expression grim, two suitcases thrown at his feet.

Westley was standing a few feet away from both of them.

It had only been a few days, but he looked like he’d lost ten pounds.

When he saw me, he took an involuntary step forward.

“Brielle.”

Thatcher moved to stand in front of me.

Westley stopped short, and the light in his eyes flickered and died.

Sofia handed the baby to Leo and strode toward me.

“Was this you?”

Her eyes were red-rimmed, her voice shaking.

“You married Thatcher, so you had him pressure the hospital to fake the results, didn’t you?”

I looked at her, my expression unreadable.

“Which results?”

The question clearly threw her.

Westley picked up two sheets of paper from the coffee table.

“These two.”

He held them out.

The first stated clearly that he was not the child’s biological father.

The second had Leo’s name on it.

Sofia lunged for the papers, but Westley lifted his hand out of her reach.

“Didn’t you tell me I was the only one?”

His voice was dangerously calm.

So calm it sent a chill through the room.

Sofia’s mouth opened and closed.

“I… I was drunk that night.”

Leo spun around from the window.

“You told me the baby was mine.”

“How was I supposed to know whose it was?”

The words hung in the dead silence of the lounge.

Sofia seemed to realize what she’d just admitted, and her face went chalk white.

Westley stared at her for a long, hard moment.

“So you never knew.”

“So what if I didn’t?”

Sofia finally snapped.

“You took me to my prenatal appointments, you flew me to St. Barts, you said you’d handle everything for me, no matter what. I thought the baby was yours. What’s so wrong with that?”

Westley’s gaze shot to me, panic flaring in his eyes.

“Brielle, it wasn’t like that.”

Before I could speak, Sofia laughed, a sharp, broken sound.

“Not like what?”

She stared at Westley, tears finally spilling down her cheeks.

“Are you really going to stand there and say nothing happened between us in St. Barts?”
