Among All The Stars I Found You Chapter 16

Later, I went home with him.

Leo cried inconsolably.

It took days of comforting him before he slowly began to recover.

Not long after, the Rhodes family sent Juliette abroad.

After Patrick Rhodes’s “unexpected death,” his twin brother, Preston Rhodes, officially took over Rhodes Group.

A lot of people were waiting for him to fail.

Instead, Preston stabilized the company with surprising speed.

But just when everyone thought the drama was finally over, his assistant set a tablet down in front of us.

Juliette was back in New York.

She had posted that group photo from eight years ago online.

The caption was a single, venomous sentence.

[Some people steal another woman’s child and fiancé, then think changing a name makes them the real Mrs. Rhodes.]

Less than ten minutes after she posted it, the college alumni group was buzzing again.

Someone dug up the old screenshot of my unfinished sentence: “I’m the bride’s…”

Others asked Juliette if she had once been engaged to the Rhodes heir.

Juliette didn’t answer directly.

She only posted a crying emoji.

Just like the day she’d returned from the airport.

She never spelled anything out, but she always managed to get everyone else to finish the story for her.

Preston reached for the tablet.

“I’ll have someone take it down.”

“Don’t.”

He looked at me.

I took the tablet back and scrolled through the screenshots one by one.

This time, I didn’t cry.

“When she handed Leo to me seven years ago, all she left was a note.”

“She’s only brave enough to come back now because she thinks I’ll do what I always did—say nothing.”

Preston’s face darkened.

“You don’t have to deal with this.”

“But I’m the one she’s insulting.”

I looked up at him.

“Preston, I don’t want to hide behind you anymore.”

“And I don’t want to be a Mrs. Rhodes whose name no one is allowed to know.”
