If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 27
Ellis lowered his head as a tear hit the table in front of him.
His lawyer still tried to argue that the person who actually uploaded the video was Tessa.
Our lawyer simply displayed the text message from Ellis on the courtroom screen.
“After the video was leaked, the defendant’s first response was not to protect the victim or pursue legal action, but to ask the plaintiff to forgive the perpetrator.”
“Even after both the plaintiff and her mother suffered serious medical emergencies, he dismissed the plaintiff’s attempts to defend her rights as ‘making things bigger.’”
“The plaintiff is not asking him to bear Tessa’s criminal responsibility. She is seeking accountability for his gross negligence in safeguarding private material and his subsequent obstruction of justice.”
Fact after fact was laid out for the court to see.
Ellis offered no more arguments.
In his closing statement, he only looked at me and said, “I accept the court’s judgment.”
“Coralie, I know an apology can’t fix any of this.”
“But I still owe you one. I’m sorry.”
I gave no response.
An apology that comes too late doesn’t reopen a door that has already been closed.
The court ruled in my favor.
