He Accused Me Of Stealing But I Heard The Truth Chapter 24

Rachel didn’t make another move right away.

She knew Derek was investigating her, and any new action could leave a trail.

Instead, she went to Margaret Weston.

Three days later, Margaret arrived at the hospital with two family-law attorneys.

I had just finished feeding Maisie some soup. Derek wasn’t there. Rachel supported Margaret by the arm as they entered the room, her expression etched with a practiced sorrow.

Margaret looked first at the child on the bed.

“Erin, you’ve been raising her alone all these years. That must have been very hard. But whether she is a Weston child needs a formal answer. This isn’t to humiliate you. Once it’s confirmed, insurance, inheritance, and school enrollment will all be much simpler.”

She placed a consent form for paternity testing on the table.

Maisie didn’t understand and tugged on my sleeve.

“What’s inheritance? Can you eat it?”

I stroked her hair.

“Are you trying to help her, or are you trying to confirm whether I brought someone else’s child here to scam you?” I asked Margaret directly.

Margaret’s expression stiffened.

Rachel cut in immediately.

“Don’t put it like that. Margaret just wants the paperwork to be clear. The Weston family can’t operate on guesswork.”

“Fine.”

I picked up the consent form, read every page carefully, and signed my name.

“Once the test is done, stop using money and paperwork to force us into a relationship with you.”
