He Deceived Me So I Destroyed His Family’s Legacy Chapter 19

That day, Adrian was taken away in handcuffs by NYPD detectives.

Vanessa clung to his leg, crying, then turned and implicated Mrs. Blackwood and the house manager.

Overnight, the Blackwood family fell into chaos.

The rot they had hidden beneath a veneer of good breeding was finally sliced open for the world to see.

Later, word came from New York.

The Blackwoods’ assets were frozen by court order.

Adrian was removed from the board and jailed pending trial.

Vanessa gave several statements to save herself but couldn’t avoid prosecution.

Mrs. Blackwood fell ill in a shabby Bronx apartment. No one called her “Madam” anymore.

The same people who had once praised Adrian for his honor now called him a devil in a tuxedo.

By late spring, Lily was finally getting better.

She no longer woke up screaming.

She no longer trembled at the sound of footsteps.

The doctor opened a small clinic in Cold Spring, and Lily went every day to help organize the medicine.

Then, a year later, when the apples in the yard were ripe again, a woman appeared outside the clinic, carrying a child.

She was soaked from the rain, a gash on her forehead, and the child in her arms was burning with fever.

She knelt outside the door, too afraid to come in.

“Please, save him.”

“I don’t have any money.”

Lily was behind the counter, sorting medicine.

The moment she heard the woman’s voice, her hands stilled. She went out at once to help her up.
