He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 12
“And then you can divorce that man—”
He never finished the sentence.
Someone seized him by the collar and threw him across the yard.
Daniel dusted off his hands, his face black with rage.
The ridiculously exotic flower crown went flying right along with Adrian.
I had no mind for anything else. All I could think about was soothing Daniel’s temper.
But someone saw the whole thing, and before long, the story had spread through Boston society.
When Mother heard, she called me at once, her voice sharp.
“The alliance with the Hawthornes was all but settled. Margaret told me privately that she preferred Evelyn. And now you’ve gotten tangled up with Adrian again. What is your sister supposed to do about her marriage?”
Evelyn stood to one side, twisting a handkerchief in her hands, her head lowered. It was impossible to know what she was thinking.
“No. You’re coming with me to the Hawthornes’ right now to clear this up. We can’t let Evelyn’s future be ruined like this.”
“Mother!” Evelyn suddenly lifted her head, her eyes brimming with tears. “I don’t like Adrian. I’m not marrying him.”
Without thinking, Mother rejected it instantly.
“Nonsense. You have to.”
