He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 29

Adrian paused.

“She wasn’t like this before.”

“Which ‘before’? After she got married, or after you climbed over the wall into her mother’s yard?”

“Our previous life!” his voice suddenly rose. “In our previous life, no matter how angry she got, she always came back to me in the end.”

The prosecutor did not smile.

He only asked evenly, “And in this life?”

Adrian looked at me.

The wedding ring was still on my left hand.

“In this life, she got married.”

“She refused you in her family’s yard.”

“She refused you again in the SUV.”

“And instead of stopping, you accelerated while police were in pursuit.”

“Which one of her choices did you ever respect?”

Adrian’s lips moved.

This time, no words came out.

When it was my turn to testify, his eyes were red the entire time.

After I finished my account, the prosecutor asked me, “Were you willing to go with him?”

“No.”

“Did you make your refusal clear to him?”

“More than once.”

“If the police had not stopped that vehicle, do you believe you would have made it home safely?”

I thought of the cliff drawing nearer and nearer.

And I thought of how I had clung desperately to Daniel’s hand as my body slid toward the abyss.
