After Lefting Me On The Bridge He Lost His Mind Chapter 26
As for Truett, in the second week after he lost his job, the eviction notice from the apartment management took effect.
The lease had been nearly up anyway.
Since I had always paid the rent and handled the bills, he didn’t even know who to contact for a renewal.
He went to the management office and demanded to stay, but they told him he would have to submit a new credit check and pay a deposit.
His credit score was just as bad as it had been after his startup failed years ago.
Without me to back him, he couldn’t even get approved.
Truett had no choice but to move out.
I heard Chloe came to see him while he was packing.
She wasn’t there to help.
She took the Chanel bag, and she picked the Rolex up off the floor.
Truett tried to stop her, arguing that some of the money used to buy those things had been mine.
Chloe just sneered at him.
“When Mavis found the receipt, who was it that held my hand and refused to let me take off the watch? You want it back now? Too late.”
They had a huge fight in the empty living room.
In the end, Chloe left, dragging her suitcase behind her.
Truett stayed there alone until building management came to collect the keys.
He had once believed I would arrange his entire life for him, forever.
Only after I left did he finally realize that all those little things he had once looked down on were the very things that had been holding his life together.Â
