After Lefting Me On The Bridge He Lost His Mind Chapter 25

After the news hit New York, the friends who had used me as a game piece were the first to panic.

Ryan blamed everything on Chloe.

He claimed she had proposed the bet and that he had only transferred the money as a joke.

Leo, meanwhile, started cursing Truett out in the original group chat.

[You’re the one who left her there. Now that the company’s asking questions, don’t think for a second we’re taking the fall for you.]

Truett replied instantly.

[If you idiots hadn’t kept egging it on, I never would have done it.]

Chloe hadn’t left the group chat, either.

She went back through the messages, screenshotting everything Truett had said and demanding to know what right he had to play the innocent victim now.

To save themselves, they ended up recounting every detail of that night’s game all over again.

I watched the messages fly on my iPad, forwarded the new content to compliance, and then left the group chat for good.

That was the last time I ever opened it.

Later, Chloe posted a long, tearful statement on Instagram.

She said she was young and had been deceived by her boss. She claimed I had used my promotion to target her and ruin her future.

But she forgot that she was the one who posted the original Thanksgiving Story.

Plenty of people had seen it.

Soon, someone reposted her own line—”I won”—along with the photo of her hugging the Chanel bag in the comments.

Even her taunt, “Hope some people don’t get jealous for no reason,” was dragged back out.

Chloe deleted the post overnight and set her account to private.

She called me more than a dozen times, demanding I make people delete the screenshots.

I only answered once.

“I didn’t post them.”

“But this is all happening because of you!” she screamed. “If you had just forgiven Truett like you always did, none of this would have ever come out!”

“So I was supposed to just let you trade my life for a handbag?”

She went silent.

I hung up and blocked her number.
