My mother helped Sienna up, shooting me a look of pure disgust.
“She’s pregnant. Why do you have to keep pushing her?”
“And honestly, even if it wasn’t Sia, the way you and Gabriel were… it would have been someone else eventually.”
My legs finally gave out. I slid down the wall until I was sitting on the floor.
My mother gestured for my father to pull me up.
“We hid this from you to save your marriage. If Gabriel had pressed charges back then, your father and I would have been investigated, and you two would have gotten divorced anyway.”
“But he didn’t, and your life stayed intact. Isn’t this better?”
My father grabbed my arm and hauled me to my feet. He let out a heavy sigh.
“You have a house, you have financial security. All Sia wants is a child with Gabe. She’s not fighting you for his money, and she’s not asking him to marry her.”
Sienna nodded immediately.
“I don’t want anything. Margot, please, just don’t hurt me or the baby.”
I hadn’t laid a finger on her, yet somehow I was now the one threatening her child.
I stared at Sienna, and a sudden, sharp pain tore through my lower abdomen.
“You say you haven’t taken anything. But my parents and my husband are all orbiting you. What else is there left to take?”
