Gabriel’s brow furrowed in frustration.
“Margot Archer, you are still legally my wife. No one has touched your house, your accounts, or the life you have. What exactly are you afraid of losing?”
The pain intensified, and I doubled over.
Gabriel’s expression changed in an instant. He shoved me away, hard.
“Margot, don’t you dare touch her!”
He thought I was lunging for Sienna.
My back slammed into the doorframe, and I crumpled to the floor. A warm wetness spread between my legs.
I looked down and saw a dark stain of blood blooming on my jeans.
Gabriel saw it too and took a step toward me.
But Sienna grabbed his arm.
“Gabe,” she gasped, “my stomach… it suddenly hurts so much.”
A cold dread washed over me as I remembered my period was late.
“Gabriel…”
He glanced back at me, then turned to my mother. “Laura, help Margot. We’re all going to the ER.”
My mother let out a cold, dismissive laugh.
“The ER for what? She just got her period.”
Gabriel hesitated for a few seconds.
“Then Thomas and I will take Sia to the hospital first. You stay here and take care of Margot.”
