He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 07
I called his name again and again, but he never looked back.
After the front door slammed shut, my mother cut through my daze.
“That’s enough. They’re gone. You can stop the act now.”
“We don’t keep pads in the house anymore. You’ll have to go buy your own.”
My entire body felt like it was encased in ice. I looked up at her.
“This isn’t my period. Mom, please, call 911 for me.”
She walked over to the couch, sat down, and turned on the television.
“You just want to follow them to the hospital and make a scene. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing.”
“Three years ago, you caused such a mess the police got involved. If your father and I hadn’t taken Gabriel’s deal and convinced him not to testify, he would’ve left you long ago.”
She never once looked at me. I pulled myself up, using the wall for support, and dragged myself toward the door.
When I reached the porch, I turned back and asked her, “Mom, what did I do that was so wrong?”
The hand holding her bag of pretzels paused mid-air.
“You didn’t do anything wrong,” she said, her voice flat. “But Sienna is your half-sister. We have the same mother.”
“She didn’t grow up with me, and she never had the things you did. I can’t abandon her again.”
I looked down and stopped the recording on my phone.
Then I dialed 911. While the operator was still asking questions, my world went black.
When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed.
A doctor was standing beside me, his expression grim.
“I’m so sorry, but the pregnancy wasn’t viable. You lost a great deal of blood. We called the emergency contacts listed in your file, but no one answered.”
Hearing the words, I didn’t cry.
The hospital performed a D&C and kept me for observation overnight before arranging a car to take me home.
The moment I walked through my front door, I took out the agreement and signed my name.
I had my lawyer file for divorce and asset division.
I gathered my documents and packed my bags, then sent the recording to my father and Gabriel.
Finally, I booked a flight to Boston, scheduled for right after my follow-up appointment.
