“Gabe, do you really think I did that on purpose?”
He didn’t want to argue. He just took out his phone and called Thomas.
“Thomas, Sia is here. Can you come get her?”
The refusal on the other end was immediate and cold.
“Why would I get her? She’s not my daughter.”
The phone was on speaker. Sienna heard every word.
She bit her lip, turned, and ran.
Gabriel hung up and took a few steps after her.
At that moment, his phone rang. It was the investigator, confirming that Margot had landed safely in Boston.
Gabriel stopped, then turned back to take the call.
After running out of the neighborhood, Sienna slowed, but Gabriel never came.
By the time she neared her parents’ house, she saw Laura waiting outside.
Laura stopped her from going in.
“Thomas is furious. He changed the lock code. We can’t get in tonight.”
