He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 19
I turned to leave. My mother hurried after me and grabbed my hand.
“Mags, how have you been this past year?”
“You never called. Not once. Your father and I have been so worried.”
I pulled my hand away.
“I’ve been doing very well since I left you. I’d be doing even better if you weren’t here bothering me.”
My father stepped forward slowly.
“Mags, I was wrong. I listened to them, and I did things that hurt you.”
My mother cut him off immediately.
“What do you mean, you listened to them? I didn’t force you to do anything. You can’t just push all the blame onto me.”
They looked like they were about to start arguing again, right there on the sidewalk. I took a step back.
“I don’t have time to watch you two trade accusations. Say what you came to say, then leave.”
They looked at each other, then both looked at Gabriel.
Gabriel walked up to me, his voice low.
“Mags, I brought them here to take you home.”
“If you don’t want to go back right now, that’s okay. Can we just stay here with you for a few days?”
The first cold wind of the changing season swept over us, raising goosebumps on my arms.
The next second, a heavy trench coat was draped over my shoulders.
Julian was standing behind me.
“It’s okay,” he said softly. “I’m here.”
My breathing eased.
Gabriel had already started taking off his own coat.
