He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 18

“I don’t miss it. Get out of my room.”

Gabriel knelt there in the dark, crying. Finally, he got up and left through the front door.

I locked the balcony door and immediately notified building management to preserve the security footage. The next day, my lawyer sent him a formal warning to cease all contact and stay away from my residence.

I went back to bed but didn’t sleep for the rest of the night.

At dawn, I heard the door of the apartment next door close for the last time.

Gabriel had broken his lease and returned to Seattle.

Life went quiet again.

At the institute, however, whispers started circulating about me and Julian.

I began to deliberately keep my distance, but he behaved as he always had. He wasn’t my supervisor, and we weren’t breaking any rules.

After a while, when people would make jokes, I stopped correcting them. Most of my colleagues simply assumed we were dating.

I worried it might get in the way of Julian meeting someone, so I asked to speak with him, suggesting we clear the air.

He just looked at me for several seconds.

“Who said I want to clear the air? Can’t you tell I like them thinking that?”

I was so embarrassed I started avoiding him.

The day he stood downstairs with a bouquet of flowers, ready to make a proper confession, Gabriel appeared again.

And this time, my parents were with him.

We hadn’t seen each other in almost a year.

They stood in the distance, their eyes red, not daring to come closer. They just called my name, over and over.
