Three Days Until Goodbye Chapter 09
Brian and I walked out of the restaurant side by side.
Alexander tried to come after me, but Sabrina wrapped both arms tightly around his waist from behind.
“I just saw paparazzi taking secret photos! I know you only married me because your father forced you to. You don’t want to embarrass your dad, do you?”
He could only shout himself hoarse.
“Mady! Madyson…”
In the end, his voice even broke with tears.
But I did not so much as slow my steps.
Brian took me home.
The moment I walked in, I saw Chelsea sprawled on the couch, scrolling on her phone with an excited look on her face.
When she saw me, she hurriedly waved me over to sit beside her.
“A paparazzo posted a video of Alexander fighting with his fiancée. The two of them finally got exposed — hahahaha…”
“Before this, the internet was flooded with fans shipping them as a couple. Those brain-dead comments make me sick just looking at them.”
I took Chelsea’s phone.
I tapped open the video that had already shot to number one on the trending list.
The clip only showed what happened after I left.
He must have deliberately protected my privacy.
In the video, he yanked Sabrina off him and slapped her hard across the face.
He roared, “Before you came back, I warned you: I’ll let you keep your dignity, but don’t take it too far with Mady.”
“Our marriage alliance is off. Tomorrow I’ll go to the Homer family myself and break off the engagement.”
He had hit a woman, throwing away every bit of poise and upbringing he’d carried since childhood.
I had never seen him lose control like this.
Maybe he really was furious beyond reason.
Sabrina shook her head in collapse, crawled forward on her knees, and sobbed as she clutched at Alexander’s pant leg.
“But you were the one who said you were sick of Madyson — said that if I bullied her, she’d only leave you for a while.”
“I didn’t think she’d give up completely. This isn’t my fault, Alex.”
Alexander looked at her with undisguised disgust, kicked her away, and walked off without even turning his head.
When the video ended, Chelsea slammed her water cup onto the floor in anger.
“So it was Alexander who told Sabrina to bully you. I used to think he was just a womanizer — turns out he’s a complete piece of trash.”
I only smiled indifferently and told the housekeeper to clean up the shards.
Whether he was a womanizer or trash had nothing to do with me anymore.
After coaxing Chelsea to sleep, I went back to my own room as well.
I sent Brian 2,000.
Memo: “Sorry about tonight. This is for your medical expenses.”
My mess with Alexander had dragged an innocent underclassman into it.
I felt pretty guilty.
Brian replied instantly.
“Mr. Broughton hit really hard. My face still hurts right now. Can you help me put ointment on tomorrow at work?”
He added a crying kitty sticker.
Right after that, he sent another photo.
I thought it was his injury, but when I opened it, the main thing filling the screen was the abs he had “accidentally” captured.
I burst out laughing.
Was this how Alexander felt when he looked at Sabrina back then?
It really was… fun.
As he wished, I replied, “Okay.”
He lit up immediately and sent a whole string of stickers.
It was an experience I’d never gotten from Alexander.
I used to send Alexander long, long messages.
I would wait a long time before receiving a single word from him.
Sometimes he even left me on read, or blocked me.
As I was thinking about it, my phone suddenly rang.
It was Alexander’s personal doctor.
I had already left Alexander — what right did he have to keep chasing after me just to scold me?
I hung up immediately.
But the next second, he sent me a text message.
“Ms. Dawes, it’s urgent.”
Then he called back again.
Frowning, I answered.
“Ms. Dawes, Mr. Broughton drank until he had gastric bleeding, and he keeps calling your name. I’m begging you — please come see him.”
His voice was full of panic.
Just then, I heard Alexander shouting in the background.
You could tell from his tone how drunk he was.
“Don’t go begging Madyson.”
“That ungrateful woman — even if I drink myself to death, she won’t feel sorry for me for a second.”
Hearing Alexander’s words, I let out a soft laugh.
“Doctor, even he knows himself pretty well. Why are you still this clueless, acting like his dog?”
The call fell silent for a second.
Then the doctor apologized to me on his own.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Dawes. These past five years, I really haven’t treated you well. But I’m truly begging you to come over…”
Before he could finish, I hung up on him.
Truthfully, I didn’t blame the doctor.
If anything was to blame, it was that Alexander and I had never been evenly matched.
Anyone with eyes could tell we would never make it to the end, yet I’d been blinded by his sweet talk.
