He Gave Our Baby To His Mistress Then I Was Reborn Chapter 04
Looking at Preston’s cold, heartless face, my chest aches.
Because it’s my child, he can be this cruel. In my last life, was this the same face he wore, watching me and my babies die?
Back then, he held my hand and swore he’d love me forever.
Back then, when we passed homeless men on the street, he’d send the driver to bring them food. We volunteered at shelters together, buying clothes for the kids, playing with them.
As the only Sinclair daughter, I didn’t have to pick Preston. Plenty of men lined up to marry me.
I chose him because I thought he was gentle. Kind.
Turns out it was all an act.
Today, I’m ripping the mask off.
I step forward, my voice cold.
“Preston. He’s a baby. How can you say that about him?”
“You’re a father too. If someone talked about Lucky that way, how would you feel?”
Preston’s face darkens.
“Yvonne, that little bastard doesn’t deserve to be compared to our Lucky. Lucky is blessed. Loving parents, a great family, a life of privilege.”
I laugh coldly.
“Preston, are you sure the baby who died is the little bastard? The one who deserved it?”
The guests start whispering. Preston has always played the polished gentleman. Nobody’s ever heard him talk like this about a dead child.
Preston snaps, impatient.
“Enough. Stop comparing that little bastard to our Lucky. He should’ve been thrown outside for the dogs, before he spread his germs around.”
Sierra stands up too, gazing at Lucky in my arms with fake tenderness.
“Our Lucky is a blessed child. That little bastard was born with cursed bones. If he passed his bad luck onto Lucky, even death wouldn’t wash off his sin.”
She reaches out to take my baby.
I twist away, my voice sharp.
“Get your filthy hands off my son, you disgusting whore.”
Sierra freezes. The whole room goes silent.
I’ve always been the picture of quiet grace. No one’s ever seen me raise my voice.
Preston’s face changes. He crosses the room in two steps and yanks Lucky out of my arms.
“Yvonne, what is wrong with you? Sierra just lost her baby. She’s grieving. She just wanted to hold Lucky for a moment.”
“You know what? I’ve decided. Lucky will be Sierra’s godson. That way she can visit, help take care of him. It’ll help with her grief.”
Sierra’s eyes light up. She reaches for the baby.
I snatch Lucky back and slap Preston across the face. Hard.
“Preston, you animal. You still think Lucky is Sierra’s son, don’t you?”
Everyone stares.
Preston’s eyes flicker. His face goes pale with panic.
“Yvonne, what are you talking about? I just felt bad that Sierra lost her son. I wanted to give her something to hold on to. How could Lucky possibly be her son?”
He lunges to take the baby back.
Ethan shoves him aside and pulls me behind him.
“Touch my sister again and I’ll break every bone in your hand.”
I look down at Lucky, sleeping sweetly in my arms. I glanced at Pearl, sucking on her tiny fingers.
I smile coldly.
“Preston. Sierra. The baby you swapped? I swapped him back.”
“Your real son. The little bastard. He’s already ashes. Should be floating in a sewer by now.”
