The Day I Went Silent Chapter 07

Julian pulled some strings and got the divorce certificate in just a single day.

Chloe posted on X, claiming that Mr. Vance was now single and that she was in a normal relationship with her ex-husband.

Chloe specifically invited the two of them to a cafe, smiling brightly as she said, “Mrs. Vance, thank you so much. Otherwise, my career would have been completely ruined.”

Olivia rubbed the divorce certificate in her hands, thinking to herself that it was hard to say who was actually helping whom.

She’d originally planned to separate from Julian and file for divorce legally later on, yet she’d ended up divorced far sooner than expected.

Julian sat to the side, his expression icy. “Enough, Chloe.

This is the last time I’m helping you.

Don’t come looking for me again.”

He looked at Olivia, his voice softening a bit. “Olivia, you’ve been wronged this time.

Don’t worry, we’ll remarry in a couple of days.”

“What do you want?

I can compensate you.”

Olivia took a sip of her coffee. “There’s no need. I’m glad I could help Ms. Bennett.”

Julian curled his fingers, tapping the table in frustration.

Something wasn’t right.

He was still more used to the way Olivia used to argue and make a fuss with him.

This kind of calmness made it seem as if she had absolutely no feelings left for him.

Julian’s eyes were filled with complex emotions. “You’ve been very sensible lately… If only you had been like this earlier, Oliver wouldn’t have hated you.”

None of it mattered anymore.

Olivia smiled. This time, her smile was so gentle and sincere that it even softened Julian’s heart.

Just then, several burly men burst into the cafe.

With bloodshot eyes, they rushed to Olivia’s table, pulled out sharp knives, and lunged at Chloe.

“Chloe!

You bitch!

Didn’t you say you only loved your fans? How could you get together with someone else!”

Julian’s pupils shrank, and he instinctively lunged in Olivia’s direction.

The blade pierced his arm, and blood instantly poured out.

“Let’s go!”

Seeing that the fanatic fans were about to continue their attack, Julian grabbed Chloe and dashed outside, completely oblivious to the fact that Olivia had also been pushed to the ground.

Chloe’s fanatic fans looked somewhat crazed; seeing that they couldn’t catch up, they started smashing the cafe tables.

A shard from a broken cup pierced right into Olivia’s leg.

She let out a muffled groan, desperately holding back a cry of pain as she held her breath and dragged herself outside.

Who knew who had leaked Chloe’s itinerary, but a whole crowd of her fans was also camping out outside the cafe.

“Who is this?”

“I think it’s Olivia!”

“Our precious Chloe said she divorced Julian ages ago, but she still hasn’t given up on seducing him…”

“Is she really that shameless?”

The extreme fans quickly surrounded her, reaching out to shove her and spitting in her face.

Caught off guard, she was pushed to the ground, her face scraping against the gravel and leaving a large gash.

The fans were startled and looked at each other in dismay.

“Let me go.”

Olivia covered her wound and squeezed out a few words, “If you don’t want to receive a lawyer’s letter.”

The group of fans were quite young, and hearing about a lawyer’s letter scared them into hesitantly making way.

Olivia limped back to the villa.

Julian, Oliver, and Chloe were all in the living room.

Chloe’s eyes were red and swollen as she sobbed, “Someone dug up photos of you and Olivia together, saying that according to the timeline, I’m the mistress… Julian, what should we do?

Is my career ruined?”

“I’d rather die than live like this!”

Julian comforted her in a low voice: “Don’t be ridiculous. I’ll release an official statement to prove you never interfered in my marriage.”

“Then what about Olivia?

If you release a statement like that, she’ll be the one getting all the hate.”

Julian hesitated for a moment, then said: “It’s fine. I’ll send her abroad for a while to let the storm pass.

Once things blow over, I’ll make it up to her properly.”

Oliver chimed in from the side: “Yeah, she’s just a housewife. So what if she gets some hate? It won’t kill her.”

Chloe’s eyes brimmed with emotion: “You guys are so sweet… Oh, Mrs. Vance, you’re back?”

Julian turned to look at her, frowning: “Why do you look like such a mess?”

“Right, we were just talking about sending you abroad for a vacation…”

Olivia nodded: “Okay.”

No questions, no arguments.

So obedient and sensible that it didn’t even seem like her.

Julian froze for a moment, then couldn’t help but step forward. He took her hand, softening his tone: “When you get back, I have a gift for you.”

Oliver also said awkwardly: “Aunt Sterling… go have fun for a few days. When you get back, it’ll be just in time for my parent-teacher conference.”

Olivia’s lips curled into a self-deprecating smile.

It was rare for these two to act like this, but it was only out of guilt.

She didn’t say anything, just turned and went upstairs.

The next day, she went to the airport.

Olivia tossed the ticket Julian had prepared into the trash and walked toward another boarding gate.

She was leaving, but not for a vacation arranged by Julian. She was going to California.

The plane took off on time, soaring into the clouds.

Olivia looked at the drifting white clouds outside the window and took a deep breath.

From now on, the road ahead would be smooth, free of storms and rain.

She was finally free.

After nightfall, Julian sat in the study, feeling an emptiness in the room.

Oliver hung his head to the side, looking completely miserable: “I really want to eat Aunt Sterling’s cooking. She hasn’t made anything for me in so long.”

Julian tapped him on the head: “Isn’t that because you made her mad?

When she comes back, apologize properly, and we’ll still be a family.”

Oliver pursed his lips, for once not arguing back.

Right at that moment, his assistant burst through the door.

He looked terrified, gasping for breath: “Mr. Vance, look at the news!”

“The plane Mrs. Vance was on crashed!”

With a loud crash, lightning tore through the dark sky. Heavy rain poured down, shrouding the world in a watery mist.

Julian’s mind went completely blank: “What did you say?!”
