The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 09

“What?! When did Eleanor say that?!”

For a moment, Adrian forgot himself, forgot who he was speaking to. He lunged to his feet, trying to grab the chairman’s sleeve, only to be blocked by corporate security. The back of his knees hit his chair, and he dropped back into his seat.

“Mr. Sterling, this is the chairman’s office. Control yourself.”

“Adrian, calm down!”

Hayden’s chest rose and fell sharply. Ever since he’d learned Lena had left New York, his right eye had been twitching. A deep, sinking feeling told him he had lost someone irreplaceable.

And now, hearing that Lena had known she was leaving, he finally understood.

Taking a deep breath, Hayden said, “Chairman, Eleanor did speak to Lena alone that day, but she didn’t tell us anything afterward.”

“Lena has always been strong-willed, and she’s lashed out before because we favored Ivy.”
